Here we are at the end of May! We feel a growing optimism looking towards summer as vaccines continue to impact the case counts in the US and other nations, and life slowly but surely starts to return to some sense of normalcy.  There’s a ways to go, but we love being able to see each other in person again!

Starting out with some recent Fellow News, David Gershon shared that his project, the Cool City Challenge (CCC) initiative, achieved a significant landmark recently. The CCC project invites and supports early adopter cities (initially in California, then US and worldwide) with financing, social change expertise and consulting support to embark on the climate moonshot of our time: becoming a carbon neutral city by 2030.  The initiative has gained tremendous momentum recently, and to date has raised over $130 million in grant funding, has published a climate moonshot strategy, and more. Amazing news!

David and the CCC team are in the process of identifying community leaders and cities who might be interested in applying for these grant monies and becoming a moonshot city. If you know of any candidates or are interested yourself, join the Cool City Challenge announcement and information meeting on June 1 from 5 to 6 pm PT. You can register at https://ccc.earth/launch.

For more information on the project, see here or in the attached pamphlet.
