Dear Reader,
We take the occasion of the National Holiday in Bhutan to announce a big moment for this country regarding “blue” development. The government of this small Himalayan state has decided to turn the country into a benchmark for social and economic development. A detailed draft about the implementation of “blue” innovations in Bhutan can be found on the pages of the Bhutanese Ministery of Economy.

Those interested in supporting the Bhutanese projects can make a donation within the Tarayana Foundation Trust. For more information about Tarayana see our Homepage.
We are overwhelmed of how the Blue Economy has developed in its first year. Ever more fans and motivated people from all continents are implementing or developing sustainable innovations. This is the last newsletter for this year, we wish you happy holidays and will be back at the beginning of next year with many more ideas and business models.

An effective insulation of buildings can save a lot of energy: In summer it relieves the work of air conditioners and in wintertime it saves heating energy. A disadvantage of traditional insulation materials is that they need much space, thus limiting the creativity of architecture and the design and the use of the rooms inside.

Tatsujiro Ishiko, president of the Nissin Sangyo Corporation has mixed minute silica beads, which are used in aerospace exploration, with a normal paint in order to develop an insulation for buildings which can be installed with a brush or even as a spray. By now this technology is not only used in outer space, but also in everybody’s home and branded and sold under the name of GAINA©.

The benefits are on hand: a thin layer of paint is enough to obtain a space-saving, mold-proof insulation which does not endanger your health and, moreover, it looks beautiful. Still there are a lot of opportunities for further development, for instance a paint for cooling containers or the automotive industry.
