Our colleagues at the Earth Society Foundation invite you to ring the Peace Bell on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at the Zen Garden and/or in your own homes anywhere in the world at 12:31AM EST. Together with dignitaries and civil society, we will observe nature’s moment as citizens of Earth. We will recognize that “we are one human family and have only one Earth.”
The annual tradition of ringing the UN Peace Bell at the exact moment of the Equinox on Earth Day (March 20-21) was initiated by John McConnell with the support of UN Secretary-Generat U Thant on March 21, 1971. This tradition marking the moment of the Spring Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere and Autumn in the Southern Hemisphere has been observed for 45 consecutive years at UN Headquarters. March 20, 2016 will mark its 46th anniversary at the United Nations.
RSVP is required by March 17th whether you have a UN pass or not!

Please include your full name and phone number.Send email to [email protected] To attend the Midnight Ceremony, enter at the main UN Visitor’s Entrance at 45th Street and First Avenue by 11:30 pm. Bring photo ID for UN Security.
This event is taking place exactly 6 months prior to the 12th Anniversary of 11 Days of Global Unity September 11-21 which culminates on the International Day of Peace!
