Latest news from the UNEP Inquiry

Ethical Markets is gratified that our report  “PERSPECTIVES ON REFORMING ELECTRONIC MARKETS AND TRADING”  is a part of this UN Inquiry report. ~Hazel Henderson, Editor

Following the successful launch of the Inquiry’s global report, The Financial System We Need, we have released additional background papers based on our work at the country level. Key examples include:

– Design of a Sustainable Financial System: Input from the Netherlands to the UNEP Inquiry and an event co-hosted with the Dutch Central Bank (DNB) which took place on 27 November. This is relevant in the context of the upcoming Dutch presidency of the EU in the first half of 2016, which has the circular economy as one of its priorities and intends to advance the proposals in this field that the European Commission is expected to launch in late 2015.

– France’s Financial (Eco)System: Improving the Integration of Sustainability Factors, published in cooperation with I4CE (Institute for Climate Economics) and launched on 23 November (press release available here). The report, published one week before the opening of COP21 in Paris, highlights the key steps taken by both public and private actors in France over the last two decades, with a focus on pioneering climate-related measures introduced this year. At the same time, the French government released the draft implementation guidelines for public consultation on Article 173 of the French Energy Transition Law related to mandatory climate disclosure by investors.

– Country papers on the experience of the UK and the US will be published in the coming weeks. Look out for the announcements!

The Inquiry team will also be participating at the Climate Change negotiations in Paris and is co-hosting two side events:
