Empowering Investors to Empower Communities
april 2013
Dear Friends,
We invite you to an event to support the next generation of leaders in impact investing. Calvert Foundation is sponsoring this year’s International Impact Investing Challenge, hosted and convened by the Kellogg School of Management on Friday, April 26th! I3C brings together grad students from around the world to pitch investment strategies that create innovative solutions to environmental or societal challenges. We’re sponsoring, so come mingle with us and other leading organizations in the impact investing space. You can register here – we hope to see you on the 26th!
Investment Spotlight
We recently invested $3,050,000 in Thomas Safran and Associates to help acquire, rehabilitate and preserve 93 affordable homes for the seniors in Englewood, CA. Along with financing partners Low-Income Investment Fund and Enterprise Community Loan Fund, our just-in-time financing supported the acquisition of this property before a competing purchase offer would have resulted in the displacement of an entire community of low-income seniors.
Financial Advisor Magazine recently interviewed us about enabling first time investors and financial advisors to become impact investors through our Community Investment Note.
Democratizing impact investing is core to our mission. So, we’re always excited when we see other organizations creating unique ways for everyday individuals to participate in a social or environmental movement. Learn howSolarMosaic is doing it through their unique crowdfunding model.
We’re Moving!
(But not far—the floor below our current office, actually) Please note that as of May 15th, our new address will be 7315 Wisconsin Ave. Suite 1000W, Bethesda, MD 20814.
Join us and other impact investing professionals for an evening of networking in DC. Learn how to direct your investment capital in positive, healthy, and transformative ways.
We’ll be at the US SIF conference, talking with other leaders of sustainable and responsible investing, investors, and CEOs and policymakers about new approaches, trends and policy developments in sustainable investing. Our own Justin Conway will lead a training on Community Investing at the conference as part of US SIF’s recently launched Center for Sustainable Investment Education.
