Once this war is over, may the challenge really be to create a planet that is fit for our grandchildren.

Welcome to the March edition of the We Mean Business coalition newsletter. I sincerely hope you and your loved ones are keeping well and safe during these incredibly difficult times.
Since I joined the We Mean Business coalition as Interim CEO just a few short weeks ago, the COVID-19 crisis has continued to escalate, bringing devastation to hundreds of thousands around the world, while grinding much of the global economy to a halt.
Communities, governments and businesses are grappling with the impacts of the coronavirus – stepping up to help overcome this unprecedented challenge. Communities are banding together, looking after their most vulnerable, while frontline staff are turning daily work into an act of heroism. Companies are showing how they can protect lives, act decisively and help curb the contagion. And governments are quickly designing some of the biggest economic stimulus packages ever seen to rebuild the economy from the inevitable slowdown.
At this time it is difficult to think of anything other than getting through the coming days, weeks and months. But we also need to look forward with hope that in rebuilding from this devastating crisis we can ensure greater resilience and steer a renewed pathway to a zero-carbon future.
The difficult work of shaping that future continues, but with even greater determination.
In this edition, we look at how long-term government stimulus can help the economy build resilience and protect against the growing impacts of climate change. We hear how businesses are innovating to help in the effort to stop the spread of the coronavirus and consider the need for compassionate leadership during times of crisis.
