“Building Resilience to Disasters in the 21st Century:
Implications of the Triple Disaster in Japan in a Post-Rio+20 World”

Addressing one of the seven critical issues at Rio+20, the purpose of this on-site side event is to reflect on the triple disasters in Japan in 2011 and draw lessons for governance and policy from the international to the local level for developing resilience to hazards in the context of sustainable development in a post-Rio+20 world.

“Towards Sustainable and Resilient Development in Asia-Pacific Region
– Vision, Goals, and Implementation -“

This seminar will focus on key issues surrounding the discussion of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in particular in relation to green economy and post-2015 development agenda, as well as their implications for Asia and the Pacific.
