Matthew McGarvey, Asian Markets Sustainability Analyst, Joins EMM Advisory Board

matt mcgarvey photoMatthew McGarvey has worked and lived throughout Asia for over 20 years in various capacities. Matthew began his career as an analyst covering the rise of the Internet and eCommerce throughout the region. In 2002, Matthew moved to Lhasa where he worked with a team of local Tibetans to launch one of the first modern social enterprises in Tibet, Dropenling Handicraft Development Center (http://tibetcraft.com). During the almost 4 years he lived in Tibet, Matthew also worked with Braille Without Borders (http://www.braillewithoutborders.org/) and is currently a board member of Kikis Kids (http://www.kikikids.org), a kindergarten for blind children in Tibet.

During his time in Tibet, Matthew became fascinated with the intersection between finance, culture, environment and humanity. Since then, Matthew has worked with various investment banking groups and PwC’s Global Corporate Finance Team based in Beijing, with an emphasis on agribusiness, renewable energy and logistics. Most recently Matthew launched Forbes Magazine in Vietnam. Matthew has an MBA from the Sloan School of Management at MIT and is conversant in Chinese and Vietnamese. He currently divides his time between the US and asia and focuses on developing corporate financial and business development strategies for environmentally and socially sustainable businesses and projects.
