Dear CREW Founder’s Circle
Today we are proud to say that we have our first two organizations who have signed on to share the funding of their projects with CREW and our members (the project software is not yet complete, so we cannot fund projects yet. The funds will simply accumulate in your Stewardship Accounts until we are ready).
1.Calvert Foundation: We will always be grateful to Calvert Foundation for being the first major Fund to recognize and endorse the model of CREW. Through Calvert Foundation, CREW Members can direct funds in their Stewardship Accounts into 8 specific regions in the country, and then into specific projects in those regions. CREW will then aggregate all of the small donations from the individual Stewardship Accounts into larger pools of funding. As these investments are returned, the full principal of what you directed and 80% of the interest will be returned to your Stewardship Account so you can support more common good projects. www.CalvertFoundation.org/CREW
1.Western Mass Enterprise Fund: Hats off to Christopher Sikes and his visionary leadership in having Western Mass Enterprise Fund be the first Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) to join CREW. Please explore their website to learn more about their important mission: www.wmef.org Through your Stewardship Accounts, CREW members will be able to invest directly into some of WMEF’s projects. WMEF will be the lead investor and CREW will come in behind all of the research and due diligence that they have already completed. This provides a more secure way to invest as we launch.
Over the next few months we’ll be talking with other CDFIs who invest in businesses (many just do housing) around the country to help identify projects for direct investment. If you personally know of any CDFI’s in your local community who would like to partner with CREW, please let us know.
Remember, you can now refer people directly to your CREW website and when they join, they will be part of your CREW. Simply send them to www.CREWfund.org/yourusername.
