“Ethical Markets welcomes the new Global Green Finance Index coming in March 2018. It will be a fine complement to our Green Transition Scoreboard ® tracking private investments in green sectors worldwide since 2007, with a cumulative $8.1 trillion USD in our 2017 report “Deepening Green Finance” (downloadable from www.ethicalmarkets.com).  Our 2018 update is due in April.

Folks,

Finance Watch and Long Finance have developed a Global Green Finance Index (GGFI) in conjunction with a large number of people and organisations, and some six months of development. The index is intended to create the a ranking of the quality and depth of the green finance offerings of the world’s financial centres. The approach follows the same methodology used by the very successful Global Financial Centres Index since 2005 – www.globalfinancialcentres.net.

The intention behind the GGFI is to catalyse the growth of green finance, improve policy makers’ and other stakeholders’ understanding of what makes a financial centre ‘green’, and shape the financial system to support sustainability goals. The index will rely on its success on a spread of individuals involved in Green Finance providing their views through the GGFI questionnaire. It would be a great to help if the SFM community could complete the questionnaire, and encourage other relevant communities and individuals to contribute as well:

The initial index is due to be published in March 2018, and all respondents who wish them shall be sent the results. If you have any questions, please do feel free to contact me or the project manager, Mike Wardle, cc’d above. With thanks in advance for your help, and all best wishes for 2018,

Michael
