What’s Being Negotiated at COP24?

This year’s round of UN climate negotiations (COP24) kicked off in Poland this week and will likely be the most important round of talks since COP21 in Paris. The recent IPCC report on 1.5 degrees and the US National Climate Assessment show that climate change is already affecting the health and prosperity of Americans, and that we must make significant and rapid transformations across sectors to prevent the worst impacts of climate change.

At COP24, governments are meeting to advance the implementation of the Paris Agreement by setting guidelines on how countries measure, report, strengthen, and hold each other accountable to their national climate plans. Increased transparency will encourage countries to stay true to their pledges and let them know that other countries are doing their fair share to keep climate change to safe limits.

We Are Still In Presence at COP24

We are Still In is returning to COP for the second year in a row. This year, the U.S. Climate Action Center will again serve as home base for American subnational actors to showcase their climate action at COP24. Events at the U.S. Climate Action Center will celebrate the climate action taking place at home, share examples of collaboration across sectors to meet more ambitious climate commitments, and identify opportunities to push action even further.
