Twitter is cracking down on hateful content

Twitter announced it will begin to enforce new rules relating to hateful and violent content on its platform.

In addition to threatening violence or physical harm, it will also look for accounts affiliated with groups that promote violence against citizens to further their causes.

A single tweet won’t result in the expulsion of an account, but repeat offenders will eventually be kicked off the platform.

This move should build some trust with the platform – which happened to rank third among major social media outlets in BI Intelligence’s Digital Trust Report.

The Digital Trust Report from BI Intelligence examines consumers’ perception of major social platforms. It rates Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, and LinkedIn on security, community, user experience, and content authenticity and shareability. These insights help brands and marketers make informed decisions about where to spend their marketing and branding dollars.
