What went right this week: the plan to rewild a city centre, the end of oil and more

The collapse of retailers like Arcadia has left many people wondering what the future looks like for the UK’s town and city centres. Enter Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, which this week laid out its bold vision (main image) for a post-retail landscape – an urban oasis that could help link the city with Sherwood Forest.

There was also bold thinking this week in Denmark, which announced that it was cancelling all future permits for gas and oil exploration in the North Sea – a move described by Greenpeace as a “watershed moment”. The New York State pension fund, meanwhile, became the latest high-profile investor to announce it was ditching fossil fuel stock.
