The Metaverse Monthly: January 2022

“Beyond all the trivialities and marketing hype about the so-called Metaverse, there is a glimmer of good news from Maria at Wunderman Thompson!

Check out the story of Fabricant, which sees fashion’s future as based more on virtual goods. Think of the possibilities:  instead of buying that expensive Gucci handbag to impress your friends with your feats of conspicuous consumption, just buy a virtual image of it as a digital token, and parade it on your avatar and to your friends online!!

Think of less CO2 emissions, less waste and less “Keeping up with Joneses“ and a fashion industry maturing beyond its current adolescence!
