The Centre for Sustainability and Excellence to host its Advanced CertifiedSustainability Training in San Francisco

ChicagoAugust 26th, 2014 – The Centre for Sustainability and Excellence, a boutique firm specialized in global sustainability (CSR) consulting, coaching and training, after having hosted its Certified Sustainability (CSR) Practitioner Training in 25 countries and trained more than 5000 professionals from many different sectors, including non-for-profits, governmental, educational institutions and leading Fortune 500 companies, will be delivering this training in San Francisco, September 29-30, 2014.

This two-day event will aim to equip participants with practical tools necessary to implement effective CSR strategies within their organizational strategies. Attendees will discuss several misconceptions regarding sustainability, current global and local legislation for CSR and GHG emissions and will get a dive into sustainability (CSR) and integrated reporting based on GRI and IIRC guidelines. At the end of the course, they may complete a final two-year action plan detailing all the sustainability strategies that their firm will take the next two years and earn the globally recognized CSR certification, which is approved by the leading Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment. A recent global CSE study shows that this attending this training and becoming certified by it has helped companies improve their overall CSR ratings.

The trainer of this event will be Nikos Avlonas, president and founder of the Centre for Sustainability and Excellence and author of the new bestseller “Practical Sustainability Strategies: How to Gain a Competitive Advantage”

One of the biggest barriers in taking professionals’ knowledge to the next level is that there is big misunderstanding of what sustainability really is,” said Avlonas. “Our trainings have been a unique opportunity for professionals to demystify this misconception, get a formal training in sustainability, and be inspired with new ideas that can help them ramp up their business in the sustainability arena.”

“The true sign of a superior program is the ability to engage participants to share their varied experiences and ideas,” said past training attendee, John Freidman, corporate responsibility communications director at Sodexo and Huffington Post & EcoPlanetRadio Blogger. “The CSE Sustainability Practitioner Workshop offers terrific value; dynamic interaction combined with thought-provoking ideas, as well as – of course – the opportunity to earn the globally recognized CSR-P certification.”

The training will start at 9 a.m. and end at 5 p.m. on both days, and it includes complimentary breakfast, lunch and coffee breaks and networking opportunities with global business leaders. The event is geared toward students, professionals and business owners with an active interest in getting a formal training in sustainability and becoming certified as CSR Practitioners.
