TODAY: 9am Pacific / 12 Noon Eastern

(5:00 PM Coordinated Universal Time – UTC)

Join the conversation as we talk with the leading edge in the arts and sciences and go exploring — its a big universe out there! Every guest helps us fill in a piece of the Grand Puzzle of Life, with every conversation those eternal questions — who are we, where did we come from, where are we going — come into sharper focus. We make the most of our Information Age, when we can peer further and deeper, from the microcosm to the macrocosm, to better understand and celebrate our world and our place in it — and make a difference.

And as an educational institution, we recognize to thrive, we must keep growing and broaden the scope of our work to the latest discoveries and theories in neuroscience, anthropology, archeology, archaeoastronomy, eco-spirituality, ecology, philosophy, psychology, mythology, shamanism, ritual, the heroes journey, the roots of theatre, deep history, art history — the full range of the arts and sciences — That’s why we call it Conversation 4 Exploration. Here’s where the “aha moments” await, along with an international community of fellow explorers.

We will talk with two friends who cover the same turf to reveal the bumps in the road ahead and maps for navigating the big rethink that is underway. Hazel Henderson is a pioneer in ecological, and economic spirituality. She’s been stirring it up for decades, with call to action and to rethink our paradigm. Her book titles clue us in —
The Power of Yin, Celebrating Female Consciousness
Planetary Citizenship: Your Values, Beliefs and Actions Can Shape A Sustainable World
Building a Win-Win World: Life Beyond Global Economic Warfare
Paradigms in Progress: Life Beyond Economics
When I interviewed Hazel in the 1990’s for my local Seattle station about the forests of Washington state, she posed a question that has stayed with me. “Why is a tree, in a forest, providing habitat, diversity of ecosystems, recreational opportunities,” she asked, “why is it not assigned a monetary value until its cut down and sold? why are we blind to its value as part of a forest?” Or our air and water, which gets to the heart of why our priorities and values are out of balance.
Hazel wrote the foreword to William Halal’s new book, Beyond Knowledge: How Technology Is Driving an Age of Consciousness. He opens with the observation that the noosphere of Teilhard de Chardin — this emerging global consciousness — is already here in the technological sense, citing the statistics. (Not quite what Teilhard was envisioning, back in the 1950’s) William Halal, Professor Emeritus of Management, Technology & Innovation at George Washington University, says “As an aerospace engineer on Apollo, an Air Force officer, a Silicon Valley manager, professor of technology & innovation, and founder of TechCast, I have always been fascinated with the revolutionary power of technology driving us into a high-tech global order. My work is devoted to helping us figure out where this profound transition is heading, what it all means, and how we can get there.”
