MEXICO TO INVEST BILLIONS IN RENEWABLE ENERGY
El Economista, reports Mexico has 40 GW of potential wind energy resource potential and is poised to become one of the fastest growing wind energy producers in the world. Mexico installed 1.3 GW of wind power in 2012, and it is estimated that it will invest more than $20 billion in wind energy over the next decade.
LAC-CORE will be holding a breakfast workshop focusing on two basic issues:
1) Technology and Community: This portion of the workshop will focus on microgrids, community resource assessments, and the cultural and political challenges facing the scale-up of more renewables in the region.
2) Integrated Systems: Energy and Agriculture: We will examine the profound linkage among farming, food, fuel, and power systems, and identify strategies for increasing the efficiency and profitability of each system through better integration.
The OPIC Investor Financing Workshop, How to Cross the Finish Line: Building A Bankable Finance Package For Renewable Energy Deals, is the only event where project investors and developers from the LAC region get individualized, hands-on advice from leading renewable energy experts in lending and private equity investing. The workshop will provide project developers with the rare opportunity to have an in-depth, up-close discussion with debt and equity financiers.
The ACORE Renewable Energy Youth Ambassador Program, organized by the Youth Ambassador Program Committee, is seeking entrepreneurial action plans that address problems related to the water-energy nexus in the Caribbean, Central America, or South America. Up to four of the top selected action plan authors will be designated as RE Youth Ambassadors and will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to present their action plans during the Youth Ambassador Breakfast at RELACCx.
The Investment Forum organized under Investment Forum Committee will allow entrepreneurs, technology start-ups, companies and project developers to promote their projects with members of the financial services community, venture capitalists, private equity investors, and renewable energy experts. Eligible projects must be seeking to raise commercial finance within the Renewable Energy sector, be that renewable energy generation, energy efficiency or technologies that support the increased penetration of RE.
