Making an inhabitable world for all

The Barcelona Consensus is presented in the World Social Forum in Dakar as a living process that seeks the development of intercultural alternatives to neoliberal globalization.

The Barcelona Consensus, organized by Nova – Centre per a Social Innovation, the Alliance for Freedom and Dignity and the Catalonia Institute of Human Rights, with the support of over 15 organizations, brings together 250 intellectuals, scholars and leaders of different social movements who have worked together during 2010, proposing new solutions to the challenges we face today: an intercultural alternative to the neoliberal globalization put forward by the Washington Consensus. These experts, half of which are men and half of which are women, have been selected by their propositional ability and in proportional numbers to the population of the different world regions, have worked together through online deliberations. The Barcelona Consensus will gather in Barcelona 28th to 30th April 2011, to approve the final Declaration and launch a world-wide action plan.
