January Update

The Institute’s big news is that we will be welcoming Professor Michael Sandel back to St Paul’s Cathedral on Monday evening 19 March. The event is part of the launch of a wider programme and series on Democracy and the Common Good: What do we Value? The programme seeks to foster a public dialogue, focussed on the value of the person and the common good. We are looking for fresh policy ideas that will help people take ownership for creating the society in which they wish to live. We will be partnering with other institutions that foster such change. Our public series will look at different levels where change can occur from the level of individual identity, to the community and the city, to the nation and the world. We believe these conversations are urgent if people are to take ownership of the change they want to see in the world. Please join the conversation and sign up for the event on 19 March. Other events will be announced shortly.

With best wishes,

Barbara

Democracy and the Common Good: What do we Value?
Monday 19 March 2018

What has become of the common good? Is democracy in peril?
Join Michael Sandel at St Paul’s Cathedral for a lively discussion on how we might promote a national conversation to address current widespread economic and cultural insecurity.

Together with other organisations committed to the common good, the Democracy and the Common Good programme seeks to emphasize the value of the person and the common good in order to arrive at a policy framework to help address the existing anxieties facing our society.
This event is the first in the series.

Would you like to be a Lay Canon at St Paul’s Cathedral?

The Bishop of London and the Dean of St Paul’s seek to appoint a Lay Canon as an additional member of the governing Chapter of the Cathedral with a particular expertise in business and finance, to support the next phase of the Cathedral’s work.

This voluntary role is an exciting opportunity to join an experienced team of clergy and lay people whose focus is to interpret and develop the life of this iconic Christian institution in the context of 21st century London. It requires experience, time, compassion and imagination, but offers the chance to play a very significant part in the governance of the Cathedral as well as opportunities to engage in the ceremonial and worshipping life of St Paul’s.

If this is something you would like to consider you can find more information on this role and how to apply here.
