WHAT’S NEW AT WORLD PULSE:

NEW COO WILL LEAD WORLD PULSE’S GLOBAL EXPANSION

World Pulse is excited to announce its newest executive leader, Chief Operating Officer Ann Forsthoefel! Ann has assumed leadership of internal operations and World Pulse’s strategy to scale our network to 10 million women leaders around the world. Growth is in Ann’s wheelhouse: most recently, at AirBnB, Ann played a role in the company’s tenfold expansion; prior to that she led the Portland Farmer’s Market to double in size and be recognized as one of the top ten markets in the world. Ann has a Master’s degree in sustainable leadership, is deeply dedicated to women’s empowerment, social enterprise, and food systems, and is renowned for her team building abilities. Please welcome her on the World Pulse Community!

CEO JENSINE LARSEN RECOGNIZED WITH TWO FELLOWSHIPS

We are excited to announce that our CEO, Jensine Larsen, has recently been awarded two prominent fellowships. The Tribreca Disruptive Innovation Awards has acknowledged her work in social innovations, and will facilitate connection and collaboration between its community of fellows, including Reshma Saujani (Girls Who Code) and Charles Best (DonorsChoose.org). The Academy for Systemic Change, which educates and nurtures a new generation of system leaders to accelerate the growth of healthy social, economic, and human systems, awarded Jensine and 20 other international fellows a ten-year fellowship. As featured recently in Stanford Social Innovation Review, “at no time in history have we needed such system leaders more.”

THE VOICES & SOLUTIONS ARE IN: #PATHTHERE INITIATIVE

This spring, World Pulse and the Clinton Foundation invited you, our World Pulse Community, to respond to the No Ceilings: Full Participation Report to help chart the #PathThere for women worldwide. We were thrilled to receive 126 incredible submissions from over 30 countries! Chelsea Clinton wrote a personal thank you letter to those who participated, and World Pulse is featuring select stories on Global Issues now that we encourage you to read. These submissions are a living blueprint and a critical resource for moving forward in the areas of health, gender-based violence, and education.

ANNOUNCING THE WORLD PULSE LIVE 2015 PROGRAM

This fall, Sister Zeph—World Pulse’s Lynn Syms Prize Winner from the 2014 Women Weave the Web Campaign—is traveling from her home in Pakistan to the United States to join World Pulse on global stages. Her voice proves the power of digital technology to change lives and create solutions to today’s most pressing issues! For World Pulse LIVE 2015, Sister Zeph and Jensine will be speaking at Emerging Women LIVE in San Francisco October 8-11, and at Bioneers in the Bay Area of California on October 16. Both events will be livestreamed so mark your calendar today, or consider attending in-person!

WORLD PULSE AT SKOLL WORLD FORUM AND SOCIAL INNOVATION SUMMIT

This spring World Pulse was honored to speak at two of the world’s foremost summits on innovation and social entrepreneurship: the Social Innovation Summit in Washington, DC, and the Skoll World Forum in Oxford, UK. We showcased our model of using digital technology to increase women’s voices and leadership worldwide, as well as our strategies to achieve greater impact through cross-sector collaboration. At the Social Innovation Summit World Pulse led a panel that featured three of our key partners—Intel, Clinton Foundation, and (G)irls 20. On the main stage, we were thrilled to be highlighted as one of the top technology innovations for the future by the US Government’s Chief Technology Officer, Megan Smith!

WORLD PULSE JOINS ADVISORY COUNCIL OF ALLIANCE FOR AFFORDABLE INTERNET

World Pulse was elected to a two-year civil society seat by popular vote to the Alliance for Affordable Internet’s advisory council this spring, and has since attended its first meeting of the advisory council in 2015. The council provides oversight, strategic direction, and high-level decision making for the Alliance, which is a coalition of private sector, public sector, and civil society organizations that works to advance affordable access to both mobile and fixed-line Internet in developing countries. With this seat, World Pulse will influence important decisions about Internet accessibility around the world and ensure the significance that women’s digital empowerment plays in addressing these issues.
