IIRC Secretariat – Pilot Programme & Communications
The Pilot Programme is an opportunity for a select group of companies to demonstrate their leadership in Integrated Reporting through participation in a two-year programme, starting in October.
Integrated Reporting makes clear the linkages between an organization’s strategy, governance and financial performance and the social, environmental and economic context within which it operates. By reinforcing these connections, Integrated Reporting can help organizations to take more sustainable decisions and can enable investors and other stakeholders to understand how an organization is really performing.
By addressing the material issues for an organization, an Integrated Report should demonstrate in a clear and concise manner an organization’s ability to create and sustain value in the short, medium and longer term.
Integrated Reporting reflects, and supports, what can be called “integrated thinking” within an organization. Integrated thinking relates to the ability of those within the organization, in particular management and those charged with governance, to understand and base their decisions on the interconnections between the factors that contribute to success over time.
The Pilot Programme brings together a select group of leading companies across different industry sectors and geographies to test the initial proposals for an International Integrated Reporting Framework being developed by the IIRC. Through participation in the Programme a company will develop an expertise in Integrated Reporting, supported by a network of peer-group companies with whom knowledge can be exchanged and experiences shared in applying the principles of the IIRC’s draft Integrated Reporting Framework.
The Programme also offers support and insight through three conferences, guidance material, regular calls and internet discussion forums.
A significant additional benefit from participation in the Pilot Programme is the engagement of the investor community, as key stakeholders and users of Integrated Reports. This Investor Group will be able to offer valuable and constructive insights on Integrated Reporting from an investor’s perspective and will be an invaluable resource to companies participating in the Programme. There will also be an ongoing consultation process between the IIRC and industry and government regulators about the Programme’s insights and outcomes.
