A Note from the Editor
By Preston Gralla

Like it or not, the recession is here to stay, and it may well be a long one. But as any smart manager knows, the flip side of crisis is opportunity, and the recession could well be a chance for enterprises to accelerate their Green IT plans. Why is that? Because certain green IT plans offer fast payback and big ROI, and so will be easy to fund during a recession.
Which plans should you start with? For advice, check out my blog that offers five ways Green IT can survive — and in fact, thrive — during the recession.

Also this week, I’ve got a green proposal that might raise a few eyebrows: IT should run the facilities department. It may sound like a radical step, but as I found out last week at the Green Computing Think Tank last week, it’s already happening. And it’s paying off big time for organizations that do it. For details, see my blog, “Why Green IT Should Run the Facilities Department.”
