Fortis, an international provider of banking and insurance services with a presence in more than 50 countries, has published its third Corporate Social Responsibility Report, available at http://www.ethicalperformance.net/Fortis_csrreport06.html

The report, which covers 2006, highlights Fortis’s CSR activities, among them the decision to establish a comprehensive carbon neutrality programme, the introduction of new business models for its agri-commodities and shipping units, the adoption of the revised Equator Principles and the expansion of the Fortis Foundations.

It also presents Agenda 2009, the company’s ‘CSR roadmap’ for 2007-2009, which focuses on Fortis’s three main strategic themes of sustainable supply chains, climate change and social inclusion.

The report, which is verified by KPMG Sustainability, is available both online and in print. It applies a third-party checked B-plus application level of the Global Reporting Initiative’s G3 guidelines and is published on the same day as the company’s annual report.

Fortis also outlines areas in which it believes it has made significant progress on corporate social responsibility and presents ambitious plans to fulfill the company’s goal of being among the world’s top-ranked
financial institutions in terms of sustainability.
