HALF-EARTH DAY 2022

October 13, Washington, DC

Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History

a live event featuring

Queen Quet, Jeff Corwin, Scott Miller and special guests.

Reunite on Half-Earth Day® to convene for nature, people and the planet we share. Together we will explore how scientific knowledge and local community insight can empower more equitable solutions to the biodiversity crisis and ensure that we leave no species behind.

The day will feature sessions at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History and remarks by Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah Geechee Nation, Jeff Corwin, renowned biologist and TV host, and Scott Miller, Director, Research Management and Innovation, Smithsonian Institution, internationally recognized for his work on entomology, science and research policy.

Session topics include global conservation priorities for species and people, equitable conservation practice, biodiversity and climate, 30×30, conservation biology education, and the James M. and Catherine D. Stone Distinguished Lectureship in Biodiversity.

We thank our partners, the Smithsonian Institution, Howard Hughes Medical Institute, and National Geographic Society. If your organization would like to support Half-Earth Day 2022, please contact Amy Tidovsky.

The late E.O. Wilson said, “There can be no purpose more inspiring than to begin the age of restoration, reweaving the wondrous diversity of life that still surrounds us.” Now is the moment to reimagine how we care for our planet. We are pleased to welcome you back to Half-Earth Day 2022 at this critical moment for species around the world, and thank you.
