Join Our Forum: Gross National Happiness as a Keystone in Sustainable Growth

Bhutan coined the term Gross National Happiness in 1972, when the Bhutanese King declared it more important than their Gross Domestic Product. Since then, this radical insight has gained increasing influence worldwide as countries acknowledge that prioritizing human well-being over bare commercial interests results in more sustainable growth for both.

But what does the implementation of GNH values look like on the ground, and what concrete benefits can be expected? Join us on January 25 at 1:00pm ET in conversation with Tshewang Wangchuk, Executive Director of the Bhutan Foundation.

At its core, Gross National Happiness is a responsible, human-centered paradigm focused on the well-being of all citizens. The Bhutan Foundation is grounded in GNH’s four pillars: Good Governance, Equitable and Sustainable Development, Preservation of Culture, and Conservation of the Environment.
The Foundation’s efforts lie the heart of many of Bhutan’s key social initiatives. This conversation will cover topics such as:

  • The synthesis of traditional herbology with cutting-edge medicine and STEM research
  • The profound economic benefits of cooperative endeavors
  • How supporting education leads to crucial innovation
  • How to preserve the grounding nature of tradition and identity while harnessing the awesome power of 21-century breakthroughs

Anyone invested in creating a sustainable and thriving economy that upholds human dignity and planetary health will want to join.
