(En)Rich List Recognizes Hazel Henderson for Sustainability Leadership

Congratulations to Hazel Henderson, president and founder of Ethical Markets Media (USA and Brazil), for making the Post Growth Institute (En)Rich List. The Post Growth Institute, whose motto is “the end of bigger, the start of better,” recently named the top 100 luminaries exploring and inspiring paths to global prosperity which do not rely on economic growth. The (En)Rich List celebrates a wealth of inspiring individuals whose contributions enrich paths to sustainable futures. The Post Growth team spent a year defining and refining this list of 100 and an additional 100 honorable mentions from hundreds of nominations. They were motivated to compile the list by the way mainstream media often, and inadequately, notes achievement by lauding material and monetary wealth. Post Growth believes there are additional ways ‘richness’ can play out, be measured and celebrated. The people on the list represent wealth that cannot be defined by a dollar value.

Hazel Henderson is honored for her role in “business, economics and well-being.” She is joined by many colleagues and supporters. From the Ethical Markets advisory board: Walden Bello, Janine Benyus, Riane Eisler and Ann Pettifor. From the Calvert-Henderson Quality of Life Indicators advisory board: Lester Brown and Mathis Wackernagel. Alan Rosenblith, director/producer of The Money Fix, which Henderson co-produced and distributed to PBS, made the list, as did Daisaku Ikeda with whom Henderson co-authored Planetary Citizenship. The Post Growth website provides a brief bio and notes the role each person celebrated plays or has played in sustainability.

The Post Growth Institute says their intent is for the list—and the conversations it provokes—to bolster existing and new efforts to construct global realities grounded in social equity and ecological sustainability. The institute is a collaborative project dedicated to imagining a world beyond economic expansion that creates positive futures for all. Their mission is to build and empower a broad-based global movement for identifying, inspiring and implementing new approaches to global well-being.
