Many CCICED delegates stayed in Hangzhou to take part in World Environment Day celebrations, which this year addressed the theme of ‘Beat Air Pollution.’ The China National Academy of Sciences launched China’s Air Quality Improvement Report 2013-18, describing achievements and remaining challenges in the battle for blue skies and starry nights. Delegates also heard from municipal officials and private individuals, including Jiang Lijuan, an entrepreneur from Chun’an, Zhejiang, and former winner of the UN Champions of the Earth award, who had established a sustainable tourism business in her hometown, encouraging many others to return to their roots. Green + Economy – A Sustainable Relationship
Projects focused on the green economy aim to demonstrate ways to achieve economic growth while protecting the planet. The green economy provides a framework that brings together governments and businesses to help people make sustainable choices, change market rules, and support the Sustainable Development Goals. This video presents programmes that the EU, in partnership with UNEP, has implemented, such as SWITCH, PAGE, the 10-year Framework Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production, and the International Resource Panel, in order to promote the green economy.
