MARCH 5, 2020

Sen. Elizabeth Warren announced Thursday that she’s suspending her 2020 presidential campaign.

In an interview with Rachel Maddow Thursday night, the senator said that at the end of the day, “the numbers just weren’t there.”

Warren said she would not be endorsing a candidate yet.  “I had a lot I needed to do today,” she said. “So, I’ll get up tomorrow morning and start thinking about that question.” She did not provide a timeline.

Warren’s exit clears the way for a primary fight between Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders.

Warren said she hadn‘t given any thought to the idea of running for vice president.

“I‘ve been running for president because I‘m ready to be president,“ she told Maddow.
