As part of the lead-up to Rio+20, The Living Rainforest invited children around the world to tell us what they think governments and world leaders should be doing to build a more sustainable future on planet Earth.

We were delighted to receive 885 entries from 59 countries!

First Prize, a once-in-a-lifetime trip to attend the Rio+20 Summit, was won by Nardos Tilahun of Auckland Girls Grammar School in New Zealand, while schoolchildren from Dubai, Kazakhstan, Malta, Nigeria, Russia, Seychelles and the UK won the other top prizes. Find out more here …

At the International Schools Debates, held last week, the participating schoolchildren developed a children’s version of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which are expected to be a key outcome of Rio+20. Read more about the proposed Children’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) here.
