In this new UNDP story about the state of the SDGs today, we highlight the challenges and opportunities that the pandemic presents for the achievement of the Global Goals and the Agenda 2030.

The far-reaching fallout of COVID-19

UNDP teamed up with eight photographers to shine a spotlight on the impact of the pandemic around the globe. The full exhibition will be on display at Photoville, the largest annual outdoor photographic event in New York City.

To coincide with the 75th UN General Assembly, UNDP and more than 40 partners created the Nature for Life Hub, a virtual space where global and local leaders shared stories on the importance of nature for sustainable development, demanding urgent action and policies.

In the context of the UN Climate Week, UNDP celebrated one year of its Climate Promise. In spite of the challenges posed by the pandemic, countries keep working to achieve and step up their Nationally Determined Contributions established in the Paris Agreement.

UNDP Goodwill Ambassadors Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Connie Britton and recently appointed Yemi Alade joined the SDG Action Zone during the 75th UN General Assembly to share personal experiences during the pandemic and talk climate, inequality, and the challenges of being a working mom.

Cartier announced that it has joined The Lion’s Share Fund, an initiative led by UNDP and a coalition of businesses and UN partners that aims to raise over $100 million per year within the next five years to tackle the crisis in nature, biodiversity and climate.
