Inclusiv, formerly known as the National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions, in collaboration with the Asociación de Ejecutivos de Cooperativas de Puerto Rico and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, invite you to join the 2019 CDFI Convening for Financial Cooperatives in San Juan, Puerto Rico, February 6-7 at the Headquarters of the Cooperativa de Seguros Multiples de Puerto Rico.
2019 CDFI Convening for Financial Cooperatives
February 6 – 7, 2019 I San Juan, Puerto Rico
The 2019 CDFI Convening for Financial Cooperatives is a follow up to two CDFI meetings organized by Inclusiv in 2018 in the aftermath of Hurricane María, and will expand upon CDFI certification and grant application processes, and closely examine the following resources:
· CDFI funding updates
· Technical Assistance Grants
· Disaster recovery
· Micro and small business lending
· Rebuilding resilient and inclusive communities
· Peer-to-peer partnerships to serve the diaspora
· Capital and loan loss reserves
· Technology in financial counseling
Inclusiv is committed to building the community development financial sector in Puerto Rico, effective agents for redevelopment and resilience work on the island. This past year, we have been helping financial cooperatives to become Community Development Financial Institutions. Twenty-six financial cooperatives have become Inclusiv members since 2018.
The convening will be an opportunity for credit unions serving the Puerto Rican diaspora in Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania, California, Ohio, New York, Connecticut, Texas, and Massachusetts to connect with Puerto Rico’s credit union executives and nonprofit organizations working in Puerto Rico, and explore potential partnerships.
The event also presents an opportunity for socially responsible investors, financial institutions, nonprofits, government agencies, and any other organizations interested in supporting the rebuilding of Puerto Rico to witness financial cooperatives’ success as the community-level vehicle for furthering recovery.
