“Ethical Markets welcomes all this good news from the World Future Council, whose founder, Jakob von Uexkull is on our global Advisory Board and, a longtime personal friend, see this TV program on his “Right Livelihood Awards“from 2005!

We hope that Alexandra Wandel, the current CEO of the WFC will also look at our Green Transition Scoreboard reports: “Capturing CO2 While Improving Human Nutrition & Health, 2018  and: “Transitioning to Science-Based Investing“, 2019-2020“ , which confirm much of WFC’s research!

Welcome to our September Newsletter!

This month, as the youth took to the streets and the Amazon continued to burn, the Councillors of the World Future Council and Recipients of the Right Livelihood Award sat together for the 2019 World Future Forum in Sekem, Egypt. The result of this meeting was a call for immediate action to secure a world of climate resilience, prosperity and peace. As our Councillor Helmy Abouleish pointed out, “solutions already exist: agroecology, a sector in which Sekem is a global leader, is one of them.

Climate policies based on scientific evidence, nuclear disarmament, and ocean protection are other priority actions. By bringing changemakers from around the world and all walks of life together, they urged decision-makers to take rapid action to address the earth emergency.

The World Future Council also advocates for education for sustainable development and calls for its wide implementation as wells as immediate action: “We need to change our direction. We have the answers; we simply need to act”, declared Councillor Jan McAlpine in Sekem.

We are also positively impressed by the commitment of younger people to demand action, and we hope that the decision-makers will be willing to follow their example.
