The European Commission (Directorate General for Taxation and Customs Union) organises a one day conference in Brussels on ‘What taxation for a low carbon economy?’

The threat to the climate is one of the greatest challenges our world is facing today. Substantial mitigation efforts are needed and it is crucial to use cost-effective instruments for this purpose. The EU opted for the EU emission trading system (ETS) to be its main instrument in this context.
