Project Manager of WFO was invited to present
the Waste Free Oceans Foundation to the Board
of the Black Sea Commission during their yearly
meeting. This meeting was also attended by both
the president and director of the International
Commission for Protection of Danube River
(ICPDR), so experiences regarding the Waste Free
Danube Initiative have been exchanged during the occasion.
All participants agreed that there should be a direct link between the Water
Directive and the Waste Directive as both deal with efforts to get cleaner
water.
During the meeting possible joined projects in the Black Sea region were
discussed and the WFO initiative has been taken on board for the 2013-2014
initiatives. On a case by case basis the Black Sea Commission and their
members will support to develop pilot projects on marine litter in their
region, although for 2013 no funds are directly allocated to it.
