The Bank of England’s a financial crime scene

Jay OwenReforming Global Finance

Tomorrow at midday, on the tenth anniversary of the financial crisis, we’re rallying outside the Bank of England alongside a fantastic lineup of speakers. [1]

The banks got bailed out, the public got sold out. If like us, you think what the government’s done in the last ten years is as good as a crime, please watch and share this video of us turning the banks into a financial crime scene to say you’re standing with us tomorrow:

To watch the action at the rally unfold, please see ‘story’ on the Positive Money Facebook page from 12 midday tomorrow.

If you’re on Twitter, we’ll be tweeting live from the event with the hashtag #changefinance
Hundreds of Positive Money supporters voted on what we should do together to make a media splash, and the crime scene idea got the most votes by far. Through everything we’ve done together in the past few weeks, we’ve already achieved some very high-profile media coverage.

Yesterday Positive Money’s Fran Boait was on BBC Radio 4’s Today Programme, BBC Breakfast and our #ChangeFinance campaign had a full page spread in the Daily Mirror! [2]

And it’s not just Positive Money. Several organisations have worked together over the past few months to create the 10 Years On #ChangeFinance campaign. Unite the Union, the Robin Hood Tax campaign, War on Want, Rethinking Economics and Global Justice Now – together we’re building more support, media coverage and pressure for urgent reform of our broken system. [3]

Positive Money local groups and other activist groups across the UK and Europe are out in force over the next week too! [4] Every conversation we have, every street stall or rally, every video we share, it’s all helping to bring more people into our movement and crank up the pressure on our politicians to fix our broken system now.

Not everyone can make it to historic events like the rally happening today. But we can all stand together in solidarity.
Hazel, please will you share the video of the big banks as a financial crime scene now? The more us who share it, the more people will join our movement for the crucial weeks and months ahead.
