RMI’s Sustainable Energy for Economic Development (SEED) team recently hired Gribila as a driver. Gibrila’s family lives outside of Freetown and has no access to electricity. Gibrila has been using a solar lantern that the team has been testing and notified us that the lantern is not only saving money, but also the quality of light is so improved that the neighborhood kids now study at his place at night. The SEED team is helping governments in developing countries, beginning in sub-Saharan Africa, expand access to clean, reliable electricity, so that more families like Gibrila’s can thrive.
