Highlights from the October Conference on Replacing Fossil Fuels with Renewables at the Rocky Mountain Institute would like to thank all who attended RMI2009, and helped make the event such a success! A special thanks goes out to our sponsors, panelists, and National Solutions Council (NSC) members who made it all possible.

During RMI2009, we offered panel discussions and breakout sessions with speakers from all areas of the sustainable world, including an inside look at RMI’s projects, professionals, and efforts that help drive the shift to efficiency and renewables.HighlightsFriday night’s RMI Quest for Solutions Panel Discussion, “Reinventing Fire,” hosted by Greenbiz.com, drew a crowd of over 500 people from the Bay Area and beyond (in fact seven countries were represented). Amory Lovins introduced  RMI’s vision of  a world  free  of  fossil  fuels; one  powered  by efficiency and renewables.

Through “reinventing fire,” he explained RMI’s strategic plan to secure a future free of fossil fuels that is not only economically viable, but profitable.

The Saturday Plenary, “Natural Capitalism and Transformational Design” brought together Natural Capitalism co-authors Amory Lovins, and Paul Hawken, along with Ray Anderson, Carl Bass, and Janine Benyus to discuss the important ways the book and its principles have inspired a new sustainable business model over the past ten years.
