Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, June 19th, 2012

The Mont-Blanc Meetings Association, International Forum of Social and Solidarity Economy Entrepreneurs (MBM-IFSSEE), make meet the leaders of cooperatives, mutual insurance companies, associations and foundations from all the continents. The MBM-IFSSEE and its organizing partners take an active part in the United-Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD), known as Rio +20 Summit and planned in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from June 20th to June 22nd, 2012.

Within the framework of the preparation of this Summit, and in order to make known the position on the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) carried by the MBM-IFSSEE, a meeting known as “side-vent” will take place in Rio de Janeiro on Tuesday, June 19, 2012, from 5.30 p.m. to 7 p.m in Rio Centro. The Association Internationale de la Mutualité (AIM) and the International Co-operatives Alliance (ICA) are partners of the MBM-IFSSEE for this event. If you are available, we would be honored with your presence and your participation in the debate of our side-vent.

During our meeting we’ll present the resolution in favor of the Social and Solidarity Economy as promoted by the International Forum of the SSE Entrepreneurs and by all actors supporting it. This resolution is founded on 20 proposals gathered into 5 projects able to weather the storm, in a global context of economic, financial, social and ecological crises.

The document containing the 20 proposals for the SSE has been sent to the 193 Heads of State members of the United-Nations in order to ask them to defend the Social and Solidarity Economy and its values at the Rio+20 Summit, in particular by requiring the inclusion of the SSE resolution in the final text of the Conference (please find here attached the SSE resolution).

I remain at your disposal to present you our activities. In the name of the members of the Board of directors of the Mont-Blanc Meetings Association, I thank you in advance for your attention by reading this invitation.

Sincerely yours,

Thierry Jeantet

President.
