With the just-ended High-level segment of the UN Economic and Social Council adopting a Ministerial Declaration, which emphasized the importance of education for sustainable development and to Rio+20, the current issue of Rio+20: Making it Happen newsletter highlights the link between education and sustainable development. It also features the 7 July, Rio+20 Bureau meeting with the Executive Committee on Economic and Social Affairs that focused on the UN system’s contribution to Rio+20.
Among other issues and events, the newsletter also draws attention to a Brief related to the Institutional Framework for Sustainable Development on “Lessons from the Peer Review Mechanism,” and to the upcoming Pacific region’s Rio+20 preparatory meeting to held on 22 July in Samoa.
