Join us for lunch and three presentations on resiliency and sea level rise in Northeast Florida and a robust panel discussion afterwards.

Hear from a local Mayor, a Regional Planner, and a UF Professor on how they are studying and planning for sea level rise and for long-term resiliency.

Presenters

Nancy Shaver, Mayor, City of St. Augustine 

Mayor Shaver has more than 25 years of business experience leading marketing organizations. She currently serves as a Principal Consultant with Experian Marketing Services, engaging with global firms to deliver data and analytically based strategy. On a professional level, she speaks at industry conferences, contributes regularly to various publications, and has been a Board member of the DMAW Educational Foundation and TransAmerica Marketing.

Margo Moehring, AICP, Managing Director of Policy and Planning,
NE FL Regional Council

Margo Moehring joined Regional Council staff as Director of Policy in January 2008. She led efforts to establish a 50-year vision for growth and development in the First Coast, completing an update to the regional plan informed by the vision, and staffed Regional Community Institute (RCI) policy recommendations on sea level rise in Northeast Florida. Prior to joining the Regional Council and RCI, she was Chief of Strategic Planning at the City of Jacksonville, Planning and Development Department. Before moving to Florida in 2000, she was Executive Director of Strategic Planning with the New York City Department of Citywide Administrative Services, Division of Real Estate Services. She graduated from Jacksonville University and has a Master of Philosophy Degree in Town Planning from University College, London.

Kathryn Frank, Assistant Professor, Department of Urban and Regional Planning, University of Florida, College of Design, Construction & Planning

Dr. Frank is director of the University of Florida’s Center for Building Better Communities and an assistant professor in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning. She specializes in collaborative and adaptive planning for coastal and watershed management, regional sustainability, community development, and rural stewardship. Over the past five years, she has led $1 million in interdisciplinary projects to assist sea level rise adaptation planning on Florida’s east and west coasts.

Dr. Frank formerly worked as a consultant and as an environmental engineer for a large manufacturing company. She received a Doctorate in City and Regional Planning from Georgia Tech in Atlanta, and a Master’s degree in Community and Regional Planning from the University of Oregon. Her undergraduate majors were chemical engineering and mathematics.
