Jonathan Lash to Transition in Role as President of WRI; Heading to Hampshire College . Jonathan Lash announced that he will be resigning as President of WRI, a position he held for more than 18 years. He is leaving WRI to become the President of Hampshire College (Amherst, MA) where he will have the opportunity to explore a broad range of issues at a college known for its unique experiential and interdisciplinary education. Lash will maintain his seat on WRI’s Board of Directors. Manish Bapna , current Managing Director, will serve as WRI’s acting president beginning in July 2011.

Ocean Inspiration: Carrying on the Legacy of Jacques-Yves Cousteau . WRI sat down with Céline Cousteau, to talk about her grandfather and his legacy, what inspired her to become an ocean advocate, and about the Ocean Inspiration celebration. “There’s this incredible uniting force that one person has the capacity to generate, and I want to give an opportunity to celebrate and reward those who care deeply about this cause and deserve recognition,” explains Céline.
