THE B TEAM EXPLORES THE FUTURE OF LEADERSHIP FOR ENTREPRENEURS

Customers, investors and top talent are increasingly drawn to companies that want to do more than just turn a profit. Despite having the right intentions, many entrepreneurs struggle with the link between “purpose”, innovation and growth. We are pleased to present, in partnership with Unilever, a conversation that gets to the heart of what it means to be a purpose-driven business leader. Join B Team Leaders Paul Polman, Bob Collymore, Dr. Mo Ibrahim and our partner, Saskia Bruysten, CEO and Co-Founder of Yunus Social Business, for the conversation, which will be streamed live on Facebook for our community on Thursday, 30 March at 16:30 GMT. ANNOUNCING B TEAM EASTERN AFRICA

We are thrilled to announce a new alliance of business leaders working to catalyse a better way of doing business for the wellbeing of people and the planet: The B Team Eastern Africa. Africa is the world’s second-fastest growing regional economy, yet the number of people living in poverty on the continent has increased since 1990. Business is an indispensable actor in resolving many of the region’s challenges, including public health, economic disparity, threats to biodiversity and food insecurity. This new group of regional leaders will work to respond to the specific challenges and opportunities in Eastern Africa, leading by example in their own companies and using their voices to help grow the continent-wide movement of sustainable, ethical businesses. TREND-SETTERS AT KERING TAKE ON THE SDGs

Behind the glamour of luxury fashion are growing concerns about the impacts on the environment and natural resources. The industry is starting to pay attention, and for good reason. Luxury fashion brands rely on water, cotton, minerals and other raw materials to create their products – making them particularly susceptible to supply chain risks posed by a rapidly changing climate, as well as threats to natural ecosystems and biodiversity. Meanwhile, customers are demanding that companies become more sustainable, using their buying power to bolster ethical brands. Companies like Kering Group understand this well, and are taking steps to put sustainability at the core of their business. They know this is essential for driving long term success. The group recently devised a new roadmap to put the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the heart of their strategy. Find out more here…

GETTING TO KNOW B TEAM LEADER
BOB COLLYMORE

“There is no business argument for a world that continues to consume and produce itself into oblivion”, said Bob Collymore at last month’s launch of The B Team Eastern Africa. These words epitomise his approach to business. An approach that has made Safaricom a top performing Kenyan company, and Bob a crucial voice in the region, and on The B Team. In this interview Bob shares his belief that companies should put sustainable communities above the fastest route to improving the bottom-line, along with his passion for jazz and his unexpected advice that entrepreneurs should not try and follow his path.
