Maria Shriver tweeted about this post by Brooke Warner: “Why Are Women Scared to Tell Their Own Stories?” I read the post and thought, “So true, and I’ve been so guilty of not telling my story.” It’s fair if you’re thinking, “Really? You share a lot of your own stories.” But that didn’t happen until I sat down to write my book, Their Roaring Thirties, and the day my husband said, “Start the book with your own personal story.” I replied, “I’m not in my 30s, why would anyone who’s reading a book about 30-something women want to read my story?” He suggested I tell a story about when I was in my 30s and then gave me the words to get me started — he said to start the book with “I found my daughter through the Pennysaver,” a very personal and emotional story about getting on the roller coaster ride called adoption. After seeing the reaction to that story – that my story is helping women and men around the world — well, there’s no stopping me now!

And then I thought about Kim Ann Curtin and how she found her voice, stood tall and let it be heard. Kim is the author of Transforming Wall Street: A Conscious Path for a New Future.
