I mean 90% of this movie was your typical high school drama teen movie. And guess what folks. I liked the way the initial scene grabbed you. They picked a really good cast and some of them are really cute(Alex Pettyfer,Jake Abel, and Callan McAuliffe). This movie is by far the best movie of the year that i have seen and i hope they make a sequel to it because if they dont ill be so mad. You have a persecuted alien race taking refuge on Earth, with nine bastions of hope for their civilization being systematically sought and destroyed by the evil (wince) Mogadorians. This movie was amazing and i loved it the charcters had been great and Alex's and Diana's chemistry on screen produced them perfect for the roles of Sarah and John.

Most of this film is so dark you can't tell what is happening. ALEX PETTYFER dominates each and every scene. His initial day at that school was like every friggin' initial day of high school in movies - the cool dudes come and welcome him sarcastically - then go on to shove the nerd of the school into a locker, John goes to help him, and of course we discover out that this nerd, whose name is Sam, is fascinated with UFO's and claims that his dad was abducted by aliens. A little bit of romance which was part of the plot, but far from the sappy overindulgence of Twilight. The story line isn't that original and the unique effects weren't Steven Spielberg quality but there was something that make me maintain watching.

It delves into the whole surviving life as a teen factor but not to the point that movies like twilight do (which beats you over the head with it). I had fears of becoming disapointed, but alas the story line was great, and the visuals were amazing. I really enjoyed the story line and whilst it had that super hero really feel to it I felt that it was original in it is take on the super hero theme.

I'll admit, this movie had a couple of over the top sci-fi moments, but for the most component, not only did they not detract from the film, to my delighted surprise they complimented it.

Sci-fi, futuristic or whatever. Basically I gave it 8/10, it was great, I would of course watch it once again. If you are 30+, it will be a little long in the tooth. A boy with extraordinary powers who wants to be invisible and blend in so people wont notice that he is really a super man and when somebody realizes that he is not actually human, he jumps to an additional location.
