The Federal Reserve Supports More Investing for Impact
Lauryn Agnew and the SF Fed Showcase How Doing Good Can Make More Money,
Especially if Focused on a Regional Economy

Panel.IIBA

The Federal Reserve of San Francisco and Boston both hosted events to showcase and spur more impact investing and economic development.

The Boston Fed, in conjunction with University of New Hampshire’s Michael Swack, organized theFinancial Innovations Rounddtable. Sustainable banks, community development financial institutions (CDFIs) and leaders in low-income housing and impact investing experts (including HIP Investor) highlighted the latest initiatives that are growing income and stabilizing housing, as well as measurement of results in impact that connect to financials – very HIP indeed. (Summary paper coming soon.)

The San Francisco Federal Reserve’s full-day conference, organized by Ian Galloway with financial expert Lauryn Agnew, highlighted impact investing opportunities and challenges for fiduciaries operating in the San Francisco Bay Areaand broader California.

Many fiduciaries of institutional assets are unfamiliar with impact investment opportunities and their related portfolio implementation issues, so this conference focused on these opportunities and implementation issues with a particular focus on the San Francisco Bay Area, as a model for local and regional impact investing that can spur more ecnomic growth.

The discussions included leaders in finance, philanthropy, academia, and policy. The goal of the convening was to identify ways for fiduciaries to safely move assets into alignment with regional economic development and sustainability goals.

More than 200 firms with $2 trillion assets under management (including HIP Investor) urged these garmet companies to sign the Bangladesh Accord on Fire and Building Safety and invest in improvements to protect the safety and survival of workers.

In Huntington Beach, California, at the IMN Impact Investing Summmit, HIP Investor’s team shared how our multi-factor approach focuses on rating real results and risks of equities and bonds of companies, and issuers of municipal, government and nonprofit bonds.  HIP Scores focus on metrics of firms that can drive revenue and reduce costs, thus resulting in the potential for more resilient portfolios.

We could see ETFs soon tracking HIP Indexes… stay tuned for that
