PENANG, Malaysia, Dec  2017 (IPS) – In 2017, Donald Trump dominated the year by using US clout to change many aspects of global relations, and not for the better. What a year it has been!   As 2017 slips away, and 2018 dawns, many wonder if the world will ever be the same.

Credit or blame goes mainly to United States President Donald Trump for this radical change.  This time last year, after he won the presidential elections, it was a toss-up whether Trump would implement his campaign promises or become a more statesmanlike President.

“Friendship Party” For Countries That Supported US In UN Israel Vote

Though at first glance it sounds straight out of The Onion, Nikki Haley has formally invited the 64 countries who either voted ‘against’ or abstained (or just didn’t show up) for Thursday’s UN General Assembly vote on the Jerusalem resolution to a “friendship” party.

Hours after Haley tweeted “We appreciate these countries for not falling to the irresponsible ways of the UN,” Voice of America’s UN correspondent Margaret Besheer posted an electronic version of the invitation to twitter, which reads ”Save the Date: The Honorable Nikki R. Haley, Permanent Representative United States Mission to the United Nations invites you to a reception to thank you for your friendship to the United States, Wednesday, January 3, 2018 6:00-8:00p.m.
