YOUNG SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURS FROM 16 COUNTRIES COME TOGETHER AT SINAL DO VALE TO DEVELOP INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS FOR GLOBAL YOUTH UNEMPLOYMENT

Sinal do Vale, a global learning center for sustainability located 50 km from Rio de Janeiro in the Atlantic Rainforest, hosted for 10 weeks a delegation of 17 young entrepreneurs from 16 countries – representing nearly all continents – who came to Brazil to develop innovative solutions for reducing global youth unemployment. The 17 fellows came as part of a program called Entrepreneurship for Good from the Do School, a renowned, Berlin-based entrepreneurship school and supported by the German Westerwelle Foundation.

The Do School methodology consists of recruiting a group of international fellows through a rigorous and competitive selection process who then spend 10 weeks collaborating and creating disruptive solutions to a a complex challenge – in this case youth unemployment – which can be tested, prototyped, then scaled. The fellows are also coached on their own entrepreneurial ventures during the incubation phase and are then supported for 10 months after by the professionals from the Do School. In this Brazil edition of the program, SINAL’s campus in nature, educational philosophy of learning-by-doing, and experience in training young leaders in community resilience complemented the co-creative, entrepreneurial style of the Do School.
