STERN REPORT: 2C GOAL MAY BE CLOSER THAN YOU THINK
Carbon reduction targets pledged as part of international climate negotiations may be sufficient
to put the world on a path that gives a reasonable chance of limiting global temperature rise below
two degrees Celsius, a new report has found.

The head of the U.N.’s panel of climate scientists on Monday strongly defended findings that humans
are warming the planet, after critics said that leaked emails from a British university had undermined
evidence.

U.N. CLIMATE TALKS TO SEEK DEEP CO2 CUTS, AID
The biggest climate meeting in history, with 15,000 participants from 192 nations, begins in Copenhagen
on Monday seeking to agree curbs on greenhouse gas emissions and raise billions of dollars for the poor
in aid and clean technology.

POORER NATIONS TARGET MID-2010 CLIMATE DEAL
China, Brazil, South Africa and India want a global climate treaty wrapped up by June 2010, according to a
joint draft document prepared for the Copenhagen climate summit which opened on Monday.

EPA CLEARED TO REGULATE U.S. EMISSIONS AS CONGRESS STALLS
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Monday cleared the way for regulation of greenhouse gases
without new laws passed by Congress, reflecting President Barack Obama’s commitment to act on climate
change as a major summit opened in Copenhagen.

REACTION TO EPA’S CLIMATE CHANGE DECLARATION
Business groups reacted with alarm and environmentalists with applause to the U.S. Environmental Protection
Agency’s formal declaration Monday that greenhouse gas emissions endanger human health, clearing the way
for federal regulation.
