Parliament of the World’s Religions Celebrated in Australia
From December 3 to 9, 2009, around 6.000 people from 220 different faiths and all corners of the world celebrated the Parliament of the World’s Religions 2009 in Melbourne, Australia. The Earth Charter Task Force on Religion, Spirituality, and Ethics participated in the celebrations and organized two panel events on the Earth Charter.

La Salle, Central America and Panama, embraces the Earth Charter

On December 7th, 2009 a small meeting took place at La Salle University in San Jose, Costa Rica, with the purpose of signing a collaboration agreement between La Salle Distrito de Centroamérica and Earth Charter International. With this agreement, La Salle universities and schools in Central America and Panama will be incorporating the Earth Charter as part of their work and education programmes.

Professor Klaus Bosselmann receives the first IUCN Annual Scholarship Award
Professor Klaus Bosselmann, Earth Charter Affiliate from New Zealand, received the first annual Scholarship Award as best researcher in the category of Environmental Law Academic with more than 10 years of experience. The award ceremony took place at the 7th Annual Colloquium of the IUCN Academy of Environmental Law, held in Wuhan, China, 4 November 2009.

Finn Lynge of Earth Charter Greenland receives an award from the government

The Greenland government awards Finn Lynge a recognition for his work with the Earth Charter Greenland and for openly advocating against the Greenland environmental policies, considering them as incompatible with the Rio precautionary principle and with the vision enshrined in the Earth Charter.
