CEC & Hundreds of Businesses Support
Federal Minimum Wage Increase
Cutting Edge Capital CEO Jenny Kassan and President John Katovich added their voices to the growing number of businesses that support an increase in the federal minimum wage. Last increased in 2009, the minimum wage of $7.25 an hour ($15,080 a year for full-time worker) has less buying power than it had in 1950 because it has not kept pace with inflation. Hundreds of business owners and executives around the country, including many fellow Social Venture Network members, have signed the Business for a Fair Minimum Wage Statement arguing that a fair minimum wage makes good business sense. Notable supporters include the American Sustainable Business Council, Zingerman’s Community of Businesses (see video here), Organic Valley, Ben & Jerry’s, Eileen Fisher, Dansko Footwear, Equal Exchange, Seventh Generation, New Belgium Brewing, and hundreds of locally owned businesses in almost every state.
